BEcause hired for bowel cancer campaign

Highlight PR News, BEcause Be Clear on Cancer campaign

The Department of Health (DH) has appointed brand experience agency BEcause to help educate older consumers about the early symptoms of bowel cancer via a major national roadshow, which launched on the 20th February 2012.

The “Be Clear on Cancer” campaign will see BEcause deliver 150 live days of roadshow activity over several weeks at shopping centres and garden centres across multiple UK regions. This will be supported by roving face-to-face activity at Mecca Bingo’s and pharmacies.

The live activities are part of an integrated Department of Health campaign, supported by press, radio, TV, social media and PR, designed to save hundreds of lives per year.

BEcause’s mobile “Be Clear on Cancer” stand will be staffed by trained Brand Ambassadors and a nurse who will be on hand to talk through bowel cancer symptoms. There will also be a discrete consultation area connected to the stand where members of the public can ask further questions. Visitors will receive GP appointment cards to encourage them to visit their GP.

Sharon Richey, CEO of BEcause comments:
“This is a really important cause for us with several of the team at BEcause having close friends or family who have fought cancer. Bowel cancer is the second largest cancer killer but people don’t talk about it because they feel it’s embarrassing. This campaign will set out to make people more aware of the symptoms and encourage people to go to their GP. Ultimately it’s about saving lives.”
